We left Sydney in February driving down the eastern coast to Lakes Entrance, where we stayed for a few days. A short distance from Lakes Entrance is a small town, Paynesville. At Paynesville we caught the "Punt" (with Landcruiser) to Russell Island. ( The Punt runs every 10 minutes and costs $5-00 return) The highlight at Russell Island is viewing Koalas in the wild. In 1 hour we spotted 18 Koalas on the Island. From Lakes Entrance we travelled to our favourite town, Warbuton and camped alongside a fast flowing river. From here we visited the Dandenongs near Melbourne. Then to Geelong which has a magnificant beach front....see the Bollards above. Our Journey along the famous Great Ocean road began at Geelong. The drive is approx. 1000kms and very spectacular. Then we crossed into South Australia on our way to Adeliade. |
