We travelled to Moscow from London in January 2002...in the bitter RUSSIAN
winter.
Booked on British Air, but upon arriving at Heathrow found that the flight had
been cancelled
and if we wanted to !!! we could take the Aeroflot flight to Moscow. As we had
prearranged
tours & accomodation in Moscow, we decided reluctantly to board the Aeroflot
flight.
This is where our trouble began.....British Air failed to load our luggage...so
we arrived in Moscow
in the bitter cold with only the clothes we wore. Our lost luggage finally
caught up with us several days
later when we were departing Helsinki, Finland for Bangkok, Thailand. So the
upshot was we were without
a change of clothes for several days in minus temperatures.
We had previously travelled to Moscow in 1972...and we found it to be vastly
different with the fall
of communism & the adoption of a capitalist society.
In 1972 their was no advertisements, no crime
and full employment. To-day its vastly different and we were hesitant to go
places that we visited in 1972.
Standing on Red Square was still awesome and a highlight of the journey.
Below are some photographs taken on this visit. Remember it gets light at
10:30 am and gets dark again at 2:30 pm
so the lighting for photography was not good.
